Ryan joined Terra Ferma in May of 2015 as a Lead Gardener in the Fine Gardening department. His career in gardening began in his early teens in New England and he’s been active in horticulture ever since. After receiving Associates of Science degrees in Business and Horticulture from the University of New Hampshire he relocated to California. He attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Horticulture.
Ryan has a genuine passion for plants and in addition to gardening has worked in Arboriculture, plant health care, landscape design, floral design, plant propagation and plant breeding. He is a licensed Pest Control Adviser and ISA Certified Arborist.
In his free time he enjoys relaxing with friends and family and traveling. While traveling Ryan makes a point to tour Botanical Gardens to glean inspiration and technique. He has gathered both from famous gardens throughout Europe and North America as well as in India, Chile and Australia.
