San Francisco Getaway
The urban context of this San Francisco property challenged us with a successful incorporation of the sought-after indoor-outdoor lifestyle into a compact city garden.
The landscape of this newly remodeled 100-year-old Presidio home elegantly blends traditional design elements with modern amenities. The entry terrace, complete with a fire table, water feature, and Japanese maple, maximizes the views of Mount Sutro and St. Ignatius Church while also featuring the historic home's stately brick arch entry. The sloped entry garden provides ample curb appeal with colorful plantings and majestic olive trees.
The side garden provides a private enclave complete with a custom copper Diamond Spa, yoga lawn, and shaded fire pit lounge. Carefully selected plantings provide privacy screening while citrus trees and jasmine vines bestow a welcoming aroma. The side garden also incorporates an existing plum tree and repurposes an existing nook into a convenient breezeway. The property's rear garden consists of an outdoor kitchen and a storage space that have each been carefully integrated into an existing retaining wall with Laurel trees providing privacy screening and accentuating the historic Presidio wall. The sleek new limestone driveway includes an automated car turntable framed in brick that matches the home's facade. Site lighting guides visitors through the property while also illuminating its many elegant features.
